Funny I should find this here! I thought this book was more obscure than this.

Yeah I read this book too. I came at it from a discussion with a friend regarding "The Children of the Law of One and the Lost Teachings of Atlantis" (which I highly recommend you read), because there is a purported tie-in from one figure of the Yahowha group to another group. The discussion and the Children group is a story within itself, but is interesting at the least.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations Larry, I have added a few to my purchase list for my next amazon order. And thanks for keeping up the work on F16C.

Your friend is sorta kinda right. Moore and Gibbons had a hand in the creation of a role-playing supplement for the Watchmen mini-series - so you could presumably have your miserable un-adventures in the grim and unpleasant world of the Watchmen. In sideline, they expanded the background of the world, extended the stories of the surviving main characters, and introduced some new faces. It wasn't another comic, but it did cash in on the popularity of the mini.

I'm not one of Russell Brand's biggest fans these days though back in the day on MTV UK in the mid-late 1990's he was definitely befitting of the old "edgy" cliché. He'd be interviewing bands at festivals while completely bikkied off his face all manners of pharmaceuticals which would make for some interestingly bizarre interviews. From what I understand he was too much the loose cannon for MTV at the time and got the axe.

If you're liking the modern British comedy like Little Britain, Mighty Boosh, Brand et al; I'd highly recommend looking into some of the Chris Morris/Armando Iannucci helmed shows like "The Day Today" & "Brass Eye" (for starters) from the turn of the century. The latter of which (based on a "Panorama" style social debate program) was banned after 6 episodes and a "Paedophilia" special after they lulled a number celebrities & politicians into endorsing an anti-paedophilia group called "Nonce-Sense" (which proclaimed paedophiles smell like hammers and have more genetically in common with crabs than normal people). In another episode they alerted a British MP to the rising dangers of a new "made-up drug" from Eastern Europe called Cake (which allegedly expands to twice the of your neck once swallowed and chokes you to death) and the poor bugger actually brought up the issue in the House of Commons the following day. These guys re-defined dark anti-establishment/media comedy and are the closest British comedy has come to matching the quality and intellectual awareness of the finest Monty Python skits in my view. Well worth checking out some time.

Duncan
Glad to hear you're digging the blogs. I actually have a job (who knows for how long...), a wife and two small boys.
I stay busy.
If the fifteen year old me could look in on the 46 year old me, his head would explode...

PS No money whatsoever in this pursuit. Seriously....

Hey LArry...
Been enjoying your music blogs for sometime now and decided to peek in on the literary side and I like what I see. [When do we have time for all of this, tell me?]
Anyhow, having just finished The Road recently myself I was interested in what you had to say. I, too, have a post-apocalyptic predeliction in books. Being 57 this year I have read quite a few of tyhem in my 45 year love affair with all things Sci-Fi and fantasy. Earth Abides, Farnham's Freehold, Boy and His Dog,...I wish I could remember all the related novels and short stories I have encountered in my readings over the years. (I'm much better at remembering music and music titles). I was interested in seeing just recently that 'The Road" will be coming to a thatre near you and me this Fall. This will not be a feel good film for the family, but I will do my best to go see it. Guess I'll look online and see who might be directing/producing and starring.
thanks for all your blogwork. I don't know how you do it all. Do you actually have a job? A Girlfriend? A Wife or family? I've started a blog but was not able to commit all the time I KNOW I should have to keep it current and working. Answer me this, if you would...does it pay in any way? I'd really like to know, because I DO like to write and maybe I'm just missing the point.
Thanks
